Big Dog Breeds That Don’t Shed (or Shed Very Little)
#1 Standard Poodle
The Poodle is a breed of water dog that likely originated in Germany. Standard Poodles shed very lightly.

“The great thing, of course, about the Poodle is the fact that they do not shed.”
#2 Portuguese Water Dog
The Portuguese Water Dog originated from the Algarve region of Portugal. I like that PWDs have a single-layered coat that does not shed. Important note – if left untended, the hair on a Portuguese Water Dog will keep growing indefinitely.
#3 Giant Schnauzer

The Giant Schnauzer is a German breed of dog that was originally bred to guard the farmer’s property as well as to assist on farms by driving livestock to market. The Giant Schnauzer is a low-shedding breed and is considered hypoallergenic.
#4 Irish Water Spaniel

The Irish Water Spaniel has a coat consisting of dense curls that sheds very little. They are the largest of the Spaniel group.
#5 Airedale Terrier

The Airedale Terrier is a dog breed that originated in England. It is the largest of the British terriers. Airedale Terriers shed very little. However, they do still shed some.

The Saluki was originally bred in the Fertile Crescent. You need to know that the coat comes in a variety of colors, including tri-color (tan, black, and white), black/tan, grizzle/tan, red, fawn, cream, and white. The fur is low-shedding when compared to other breeds.

The Afghan Hound is a hound that originates in the cold mountains of Afghanistan. The Afghan Hound has a thick, silky, and flowing coat. This long-coated breed doesn’t shed much. However, their coat requires considerable care and grooming.

#11 Miniature Schnauzer

It is a German breed of small dog of Schnauzer type that is a low-shedding companion. Miniature Schnauzers have a double coat, with a soft undercoat and a wiry exterior fur. They require regular grooming, either by clipping or by stripping.

Maltese are affectionate toy dogs weighing less than seven pounds. Maltese dogs are intelligent and devoted and form strong bonds with their owners. They’re the true lap warmer dogs. They have a silky, pure-white coat and shed very little. This is because they have hair rather than fur.
